News Of The Week
From Prime Ministers To Low Riders 🤔

Politics
Jacinda has left the building 😲 Jacinda Ardern shocked the world by resigning as the Prime Minister of New Zealand. She inspired women over the world, and was a great ally to people from marginalised communities. ICYMI, Ardern appointed New Zealand’s first Indigenous woman foreign minister and created the most diverse cabinet in New Zealand’s history!
The question on our minds now? Who will be the new Prime Minister of New Zealand?! We’ll know in few days but there’s a chance New Zealand could have its first Māori Woman Prime Minister with Nanaia Mahuta and Kiri Allan potentially in the running 👀

Culture
Let’s get low 🚘 So this is cool! Latina women in California and New Mexico are forming women’s lowriding clubs. Why? They’re debunking the myth that lowriding — aka fixing up vintage cars, dropping them low, and installing hydraulics to cruise around town — is a man's game. When they’re not battling sexism, the “Lady Lowriders” are teaming up with other lowriding clubs to repeal racist anti-cruising ordinances.

Trailblazing Woman Interview
Inspiring And Actionable Advice From the Women You Admire

From L-R; Top Row: Sim Kaur, Fallon Gregory, Princess Chinoyi; Bottom Row: Candace Reels, Raquel García & Nandeeta Maharaj
This week we’re seeking inspiration from six of the (many) amazing BIPOC woman founders and community leaders that we interviewed last year. Because a little dose of wise words can go a long way, especially as we gear up for the year ahead. Our 2023 feature interviews are kicking off from next week.
So ladies, what are your top tip(s) for BIPOC women on how they can blaze their own trail and make change in the world?
Nandeeta Maharaj, founder of Goods 4 Good: Find your tribe and lean on them and learn from them and really engage with them. Also, never let colour be your ceiling level! Just be brave and do what you want to do.
Candace Reels, fierce champion for women’s empowerment, and founder of Female Collective: Be yourself, no matter what.
Raquel García, trademarks lawyer and founder at Legiterati: Don’t be afraid to show up and don’t be afraid to network.
Fallon Gregory, influencer and founder of InfluenceBlak: Be authentic to yourself, genuinely interact with the people in your community , and don’t take what people say to you personally, especially people online!
Sim Kaur, founder of Girls That Invest: Have a strong belief in yourself and surround yourself with a good, supportive group of people.
Princess Chinoyi, founder of Entle Beaute: If you change your perspective you can change your life, remember that you don’t need to be perfect. Your brand doesn’t need to be perfect. Everyone starts somewhere, so just put yourself out there, and don’t underestimate the importance of self-care and mental health.

Lioness Thoughts
I don’t like to gamble, but if there’s one thing I’m willing to bet on, it’s myself.
